  18. on the atari st.
  19. I don't have any program yet on the emulator except the system folder.

  80. Yes, the Spectre 128/GCR can use 128K Mac (Plus) ROMs or old 64K Mac ROMs.  It
  81. is quite stable, at least with 6.0.2 (which I'm currently using).  MultiFinder
  82. isn't rock solid; it acts pretty strange.  The latest release, 6.0.4, contains
  83. numerous fixes... maybe it will run better on the Spectre.  We'll know if
  84. Apple's 7.0 works when it is released.  Yes, virtual memory will only be
  85. supported on MMU equipped Macintosh systems.  The rest really doesn't have any
  86. reason to not work with the Spectre.

  94. The Spectre GCR is the Spectre 128 with Macintosh disk access ability.  It will
  95. read, write and format Macintosh disks faster than a Macintosh.  I've compared
  96. side by side... and it's really true.

  125. Well, there is B & C ComputerVision in Santa Clara and San Jose Computer in,
  126. surprise, San Jose.  I don't know about Santa Barbara...

  131. The Spectre GCR is a really great product.  The only features I can think of
  132. that I would like to see added are:
  133.  
  134. - Improved MultiFinder stability (is it really just Apple's weird code?)
  135. - Shutdown/restart that works (it is hard keeping average users "ejecting"
  136.   hard drive partitions before turning the machine off - ARGH!)
  137. - Selectable Spectre or Macintosh (GCR) disk format while running as a
  138.   Macintosh (it only formats Macintosh now)
  139. - Macintosh SCSI device support (using ICD, Supra, etc. host adapter) so we
  140.   can use real Macintosh SCSI hardware
  141. - Sound improvements: correct pitch, newer system compatibility, etc.
  142. - Expensive Christmas presents for faithful users  :-)

  144. Oh yeah, a fix for my Future Systems GTS-100 drive so it can work with the
  145. GCR would be great!  ANYONE have any ideas how I can get this beast to stop
  146. filtering out the high frequencies?  (Is that the problem?)  It figures that
  147. I own one the only 3rd-party drive that does not work with the GCR.  At least
  148. I have one drive that works...

  199.  As anyone who reads the two online ST mags knows there is someone (a software
  200. developer me thinks ) who is trying to form a grass roots movement to support
  201. the Atari line of computers, and he calls this movement THE REVOLUTION.
  202.  Now I'm all for supporting my system of choice but this guy seems to be going
  203. way, way off the deep end. I mean he's talking about writing the  ROSEANNE
  204. show to get them to do a special episode where the family wins an Atari computer
  205. and then has REVOLUTION team members set up the system for them , oh that
  206. sounds real funny ha,ha,he,he,hummmmm. He also wants us to write the ABC 20-20
  207. show to get them to cover the REVOLUTION as it progresses to ****VICTORY****
  208. (dum,da,dummmmmm), Or how about that idea of sending a get well soon banner to
  209. a sick child from who else, THE REVOLUTION ( why not send a get well soon card
  210. to a sick child without the  promotion). As well as a few other
  211. brilliant ideas involving CBS news, George Bush, ect ect.
  212.  If this guy does half the the things he wants to do he is just going to
  213. convince whoever he sends this crap too that Atari users are idiots so the Atari
  214. computers MUST be toys.

  241. While Public Domain programs are very nice (and my own disk archives are
  242. fairly full of once-used or "perhaps sometime I'll use it" PD software), the
  243. problem becomes this:

  245. Everyone will use the [presumably] less efficient PD program and not bother to
  246. consider the [usually] low cost commercial software available for the ST.
  247.  
  248. It would be more useful to me, personally, to know the relative merits of --
  249. for instance -- DynaCADD, rather than to hear about the possible PD programs
  250. which are also available.  [Though I wouldn't mind comparisons of PD/commercial
  251. programs...]

  256. known as Uniterm, which is, by far, the most USEFUL publicly available terminal
  257. emulator for any personal computer I've come across!
